Keynote: R.A.W. Tuba
Born and raised on the streets of Baltimore, tuba player Dr. Richard Antoine White knows all about overcoming potential life altering obstacles that stifle individual evolution and development. Also known as RawTuba, he comes to us to share his love of life and music, with over two decades of performing professionally on the world’s classical music stages and as the first African American to receive a DM in Tuba performance. RawTuba will be joined by fellow tubist, Dr. Kevin Sanders, a performer, clinician and Professor of Graduate Studies at the University of Memphis. A devoted educator, Dr. Sanders has authored a play-a-long fundamentals routine for young musicians entitled The Hollywood Warm-Up and co-developed a fantasy-football style website for musicians called the The Ultimate Musician’s League. We are pleased to welcome their participation in the 2020 Conference and look forward to their keynote presentation, film screening/performance and their inspiring sessions!
