CONNECTICUT MUSIC EDUCATORS ASSOCIATION

Adjudicators

Qualified adjudicators are needed to give our aspiring music students positive and constructive feedback to help them grow as musicians while evaluating them fairly and consistently for acceptance into regional and all state festival ensembles.

CMEA offers hourly compensation to school or private music teachers, professional performers or graduate music students who serve as adjudicators for our festivals.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR ADJUDICATORS:

We have developed a brand new CTFest.net audition platform which is now accepting new judge profiles.

ALL Auditions will be held virtually for the 2020-21 school year and done through this new site.

Please review the “How do I sign up to adjudicate section below” and view the Judge Guide to CTFest videos that appear at the bottom of this page.  Watch your email for updates from the state judge chairs and the CMEA office.

Questions? Contact Amy Hannequin and Emily Caravella, state judge co-chairs at judge-chair@cmea.org

How do I sign up to adjudicate?

1. View the “Judges Guide to CTFest” videos on this page.

2. Go to our audition website, CTFest.net and register as a new judge.

3. For the 2020-21 school year, all auditions will be held virtually.

JUDGES who accept an invitation to judge, MUST attend one brief online presentation regarding how to judge virtually on the redesigned CTFest. These presentations will be given by our state judge co-chairs, the first of which will be held in mid November. The exact day/time and meeting link will be posted here when confirmed.

This presentation is not meant to take the place of CMEA’s regular Adjudicator Training Sessions, so you will not be labelled a “trained judge” after attending like you would be after completing our traditional trainings.  CMEA will resume offering our regular training session during the fall of the 2021-22 school year.

Adjudicator Training Sessions

CMEA will not be holding our traditional Adjudicator Training Sessions during the 2020-21 school year, but will resuming doing so for 2021-22.

Meanwhile, all judges who accept an invitation to judge virtually this year will be required to attend one brief presentation that will cover all that is needed to judge virtually on our new audition platform. Date/Time and meeting link will be posted here once plans for these have been confirmed.
