Description:
Simsbury High School invites applications for the position of an instrumental music teacher to join our skilled team of music educators. The role involves overseeing the band program, which encompasses both curricular instrumental ensembles and active participation in community events and performances. Additionally, this position entails teaching various music courses, including but not limited to music theory and music composition.

Qualifications:

  • CT Certification Required (049)
  • Demonstrated success in teaching within a high-achieving music program
  • Skill in fostering an inclusive environment that encourages self-expression and a passion for music among all students
  • Proven history of collaboration and leadership within the school and across the instrumental discipline
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including colleagues, parents, school administration, and the broader community.

Renbrook School Upper School Band Teacher — Part-Time Substitute 2023-2024

Renbrook School (West Hartford, CT), an independent day school for children aged three to grade eight, is seeking an innovative and experienced Upper School instrumental music teacher for the 2023-2024 academic school year to begin as soon as possible. The Upper School Band Teacher is responsible for directing Renbrook’s Band Program, which involves students in grades five through eight.

This position requires a creative, detail-oriented, organized team player with a positive attitude and passion for working with children. The Band Teacher is responsible for leading performances in collaboration with the choral music teacher. The teacher should have advanced skills in at least one band instrument, as well as basic proficiency in all typical band instruments.

The Upper School Band Teacher’s responsibilities are to:
• Demonstrate a high level of musicianship and model excellent instrumental and vocal technique
• Lead the Band Program for students in fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grades
• Direct the Jazz Band for students in grades seven and eight
• Prioritize positive relationships and classroom culture by leading joyful, engaging lessons
• Adapt classroom content and teaching approach based on student needs and interests
• Engage students in traditional and non-traditional performances

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited institution. A Master’s degree or a teaching credential is desirable, as is experience teaching music in traditional and/or non-traditional settings.

Renbrook School Lower School General Music Teacher – Part-Time Substitute 2023-2024

Renbrook School (West Hartford, CT), an independent day school for children aged three to grade eight, is seeking a warm, experienced part-time Lower School general music teacher for the 2022-2023 academic school year to begin as soon as possible. The Lower School Music Teacher is responsible for teaching weekly general music classes to students in first through fourth grade.

This position requires a creative, detail-oriented, organized team player with a sense of humor. The Music Teacher is responsible for leading occasional performances and should have basic skills in a chordal instrument such as the piano or guitar. The teacher must be a good vocal model for children and be able to teach classroom instruments including recorder and mallet percussion.
The ideal Lower School Music Teacher will demonstrate expertise in Responsive Classroom as well as music teaching philosophies such as Conversational Solfege, Kodaly, Music Learning Theory, or Orff.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited institution. A Master’s degree or a teaching credential is desirable, as is experience teaching music in traditional and/or non-traditional settings.

Part Time Music Director Cross of Christ Lutheran Church

Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Waterbury is looking for a part time music director. We are an energetic congregation of about 35 worshipers on an average Sunday.  Responsibilities include providing accompaniment for Sunday morning worship (9:30am) and special services throughout the Christian calendar (Christmas Eve, Holy Week, etc.) directing a small choir (3-6 individuals) and working with the pastor to select appropriate hymns/anthems. This position would be ideal for either a student or a teacher looking for a side gig to provide supplemental income. We have an organ, piano and keyboard available for your use during worship, and would welcome any other instrument you might play as well. Please contact Rev.
