CONNECTICUT MUSIC EDUCATORS ASSOCIATION

Professional Development Outreach

The Professional Development Outreach Program provides an opportunity for teachers to bring relevant, quality and affordable professional development sessions into their own school districts.

Applications are currently being accepted for PD sessions to be held anytime during the 2019-20 school year, except on Election Day, as well as the last two weeks of March and the first two weeks of April which surround the time of our annual state conference.

Members must log in to this website to be able to access the Session Request Form on this page.

CMEA members may request a session from a list of available topics.

The clinician’s fee for a half-day (3 hour) session is $375. While any district can request a session and pay the $375 fee, CMEA is also offering a limited number of subsidies of up to $300 in order to help defray the cost further especially for schools/districts with minimal funding. In order to apply for a subsidy, please complete the subsidy request section on the application and submit by November 8th, 2019.

There are no deadlines for application submission, unless you are also applying for a subsidy. In this case, you must submit no later than November 8 and your subsidized session may only occur after December 10, 2019. You will be contacted by a member of the professional development team about the status of your subsidy application prior to December 1, 2019.

Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and obtain your administrator’s approval prior to submitting the request form. It is not required that all teachers in the district are CMEA members to benefit from a session, however the applicant who will serve as the primary contact must hold a current CMEA membership. You will be contacted by CMEA’s professional development team within two weeks of your submission to confirm your workshop details and clinician’s information, unless you are applying for a subsidized session, in which case you will hear by December 1, 2019.

Upon acceptance, the applicant is responsible for coordinating with the assigned clinician for scheduling and further details. Payment for the clinician’s fee, in the form of a check made out to CMEA or a school purchase order MUST be received at the CMEA office no later than two weeks prior to the scheduled session. CMEA will issue payment directly to the clinician during the week following the session.
